There are five Ri-Ra Irish Pubs along the Eastern coast. The premise: Ship a complete Irish pub to the United States from Ireland, piece by piece. Each location looks different, but the underlying factors are the same. Each restaurant serves the same menu and offers the same Irish nostalgia. This Charlotte location (the others are in Raleigh, Burlington, Vt., Providence, R.I., and Portland, Maine) was originally the officer's mess in the Phoenix Park Barracks in Dublin, built in the early 1800s. The restaurant is filled with Irish paraphernalia, history and knickknacks, Irish portraits and a collection of ledgers from the early 1800s. All that history, however, doesn't get in the way of the pub's comfortable atmosphere. Ri-Ra is a fun place, a popular bar and restaurant ideal for hanging out in groups, but also for families looking for a bite to eat. Late night the bar is crowded with singles and groups having fun. The menu is filled with authentic Irish dishes like Irish potato cakes, beef and Guinness pie, bangers and mash, and corned beef and cabbage. But you'll also find American dishes, like grilled vegetable wrap, corned beef Reuben, honey-glazed salmon, Caesar salad and baked spinach dip. A separate children's menu is also available. Space is available for private parties; call for more information.

Nothing Special
By kbkellerkb on 07/07/2005
The bar itself is cool, but the people all look the same, and the music is all the same annoying music you hear everywhere else in Charlotte. If you like to dance, don't go here.

Lamb Stew Was Delicious
By jgmebay on 02/04/2005
Once we stepped inside we forgot all about searching for a parking spot - atmosphere was welcoming & very friendly - service was fast - great food, especially the lamb stew - interesting decor, love the hardwood floors - uptown synergy in its wound down stage - super place.

Great Irish Pub

Rira is the place to go if you're looking for authentic Irish quisine or a romantic evening with that special someone. Rira is the place to go to hear the best live bands in Charlotte. In my opinion the best bar in Charlotte.
